Auto tuning has become a popular industry outside of sports car racing, where the performance, handling and visual appeal of a car is optimised to give its owner something special.
It is rather surprising, then, that there is room for Audi parts and appearances to be tuned at all. Their technological development is at the heart of their company motto, “advantage through technology”, where upgrades to all old Audi parts and new models are rather ground-breaking.
…But it still happens. The official German tuners of Audi cars, Hofele, have released a new package of modifications for the Audi A8, which will be released at the same time as the new version of this popular car. The press release claims not only to have improved the car’s aesthetics but also its performance.
The appearance of the car has given several aerodynamic modifications to the original Audi parts, including:
- A new front bumper with air vents
- Air intakes and outtakes in the front fenders
- Side skirts
- Rear apron (with an opening for a sneak peek of the gorgeous stainless steel sports muffler)
- A bigger trunk spoiler lip
- Your choice of 20 or 22 inch alloy wheels
Its base model’s 372 horsepower has been boosted to deliver a considerable increase to 400 horsepower V8 petrol engine. Its V8 TDI diesel engine has also been improved, with 395 horsepower compared with the standard 350. Finally, its speed has been improved by .10 of a second, reaching a 60 mph clocked time in 5.2 seconds opposed to the original 5.3.
