The original Hummer produced by GM was renowned for being a gas guzzling giant. It was due to their poor fuel consumption of around 10 miles per gallon that GM ceased production of its greedy giant in early 2010.
The MEV Hummer HX however is a completely different breed. A miniature vehicle in comparison to its older brother the all-electric Hummer HX can do around 100 miles on one charge, producing zero emissions making it congestion charge exempt in London.
The Mini Hummer is produced exclusively by My Electric Vehicle under licence by GM and costs around £10,000 a stark contrast to the original Hummers owned and loved by a number of celebrities.
The HX is only three meters long and has space for two passengers. For those living in central London this vehicle is a perfect choice to travel around exempt from congestion charging and for very little outlay.
But it is a golf cart with a Hummer body.
It is only capable of 19mph so is not really suitable for road use. It probably won’t even be licensed for the road?
And it is not ’emissions free’ It has a 60 mile range and 4kW motor so assuming it needs 3kW to reach its top speed of 19mph, it will be responsible for 1.5Kg of CO2 per hour or 78g/mile. Not much better than a Polo Blue Motion.
Looks cool though.
I hope it will remain a concept, because, let’s be honest, it’s a mistake. The Hummer is a well positioned brand, in trouble lately but famous brand not the less. Who buys a Hummer:
1. Rap stars- because it has a Big Personality
2. Other Hollywood stars – because nothing says “ I’m big and famous and you can see me from a mile away’’ like a Hummer and , has a Big Personality.
3. Arnold Schwarzenegger…
The reason? It’s big, expensive, drinks like a tank and speaks for me.
Can this Hummer like car give you that impression? Doubt it!
yeah i agree with Constantin, i am ok with making Hummer for eco friendly but this thing is just a Insult for the brand.
They totaly screw up the original HUMMER HX concept which was 1000 times better than this Pseudo Hummer.
