Jay Z & Kanye Destroy Maybach

A few weeks ago I noticed the name Otis trending on twitter, being a fan of Otis Redding I was curious and clicked on it to see what was going on. What I found was a divide in opinion of an up and coming collaboration between Jay z and Kanye west. The track entitled Otis, ode to the late great Otis Redding samples his Try a little tenderness.

As if the track itself hadn’t caused enough controversy the video is set to cause yet more. I saw it for the first time last night on one of the music channels and noticed the ‘enhancements’ (I use the term loosely, as they far from enhance the vehicle.) which had been made to a £280,000 Maybach, which Top Gear have dubbed the Jayzach.

The beginning of the video see’s the rappers power tools in hand, making some customisations. The finished vehicle loses its roof and doors and see’s metal crudely welded to the vehicle to create wheel arches on par with Brabus styling.

Whatever you think of their personalisation the car is bound to generate a lot of interest just as the track itself has, and is due to be offered up for auction with all proceeds going to the East African drought appeal. There’s bound to be some hip hop nutters out there willing to pay a premium to own a piece of music history.
