Porsche Taycan sets four-door EV speed record

Porsche Taycan

The upcoming Porsche Taycan has recorded the fastest lap time for a four-door, all-electric car at the challenging Nürburgring Nordschleife test track in Germany.

Driven by Lars Kern, it completed 12.8-mile course, famously known as the Green Hell, in 7 minutes, 42 seconds.

Impressive though it was, it’s not the fastest lap for any electric vehicle. That honour goes to Volkswagen’s ID R electric race car, which completed the course in 6:05.336 minutes.

Porsche will unveil the four-wheel drive Taycan on September 4 and it has the Tesla Model S firmly in its sights.
