As the popularity in contract hire has grown over the last couple of years there is a clear leading in the car leasing league table. The most popular car to take out on contract hire is the Volkswagen Golf, more people searched out the Golf, figures for 2008 and 2009 show than any other car and 2010 so far still see the Golf heading the table.

The figures compiled demonstrate that German car producers are the most popular choice of car when it comes to contract hire and car leasing deals. Along with the VW Golf, German car manufacturers including the Mercedes C Class, BMW 3-series and the Audi A3 all on the list took six of the top ten slots on the list.  One of the more surprising statistics comes in those absent from the list and the Ford Fiesta drops out of the top ten for the first time.

Commentators on the subject say that VW Golf consistently head contract hire lists because they combine perfectly design, space, prestige and residual value. Volkswagen have in the Golf produced a car that appeals to every person, a good solid business car with great personality and still seen as a great status symbol.
