Like the look of this? Believe it or not, it’s a MINI like you’ve never seen before…
This stunning interpretation of an open-top two-seater has been created by MINI and Touring Superleggera, the legenendary design and coach building house based in Milan.
Called the MINI Superleggera Vision, the new one-off Mini makes its world premiere at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.
If and when the car makes it into production, it would take on the Mazda MX-5.
Perhaps, more importantly for some of us, it harks back to a time when the British made great sports cars- and we’re talking Triumph TRs and Spitfires, MG Midgets, MGBs and Austin Healeys.
The MINI Superleggera’s retro rear end, especially the centre fin, is sheer genius. Elsewhere there are hints of Porsche, MG and other classics, while the “smiling face” still shouts MINI.
