Gok goes electric

Fashion guru Gok Wan has taken delivery of Vauxhall’s extended-range electric car.

The ‘How to Look Good Naked’ star, who’s also designed a range for Sainsbury’s, is driving the eco-friendly way from behind the wheel of a top-of-the-range Vauxhall Ampera Electron.

“I have to drive a car which gives me flexibility for both long and short journeys because I mix my time between filming on the road and whizzing around London where I live.

“The guys have told me it is called an extended range electric vehicle, so my new uber cool Ampera is not only keeping me green but gets me wherever I want to go – what’s not to love!” said Gok.

“Oh and because it’s electric, I don’t have to pay the congestion charge when me and Dolly go on our little trips into town, and you know how much I love a bargain.”

“It is great to have Gok Wan driving the Vauxhall Ampera and we are looking forward to working with him.” said Vauxhall’s Denis Chick.

Gok’s £28,750 Vauxhall Ampera has a battery range of 25-50 miles and can be charged by a 240V three point plug on a separate circuit in your home. It has a small range-extending generator, powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine, which intervenes to provide up to an additional 300-plus mile range.

The Ampera’s wheels are electrically driven, setting it apart from hybrid vehicles.
