A 1972 Reliant Regal Supervan III, believed to be one of half a dozen originals used for filming of the popular ‘80s sitcom Only Fools and Horses, is to be auctioned.
This great opportunity to own a slice of British TV comedy history will go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ Race Retro Live Online Auction, taking place on Saturday, March 27.
The Reliant van featured alongside David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst in the classic series and is one of the most readily recognised vehicles on television.
With a top speed of 55mph and 97,000 miles on the clock, the van has been lightly used by its present owner for six years. In preparation for the sale, it has been treated to new tyres, the brakes have been overhauled, the fuel system checked and it’s said to drive well (for a three-wheeler!).
It comes complete with fluffy dice, a ‘Tax in the Post’ sign in the windscreen, an inflatable doll in the rear window and documentation on BBC headed paper signifying it was one of the original vehicles from the 22-year lifespan production of the show, previously owned by John Mansfield (BBC).
