Meet the Ora Funky Cat EV – on sale this Autumn

Ora Funky Cat

This is the all-new Ora Funky Cat – an electric hatchback designed to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born.

Priced at £30,495 (after the Government Plug-in Car Grant, or PiCG), the First Edition version of the car is expected to go on sale in Autumn, with customer deliveries to follow soon after.

Ora is the dedicated electric off-shoot brand of the Chinese pick-up truck manufacturer, Great Wall.

Following the brand’s UK public debut at the Fully Charged Live in April, ORA UK claims it has already taken over 6,000 registrations of interest for the Funky Cat.

“We are really excited to launch the ORA Funky Cat into the UK market,” said Toby Marshall, Sales and Marketing Director, ORA UK.

“This exciting new EV will set the precedent for the brand, offering customers a premium, technology led experience with a completely unique look and feel.”

Looking a little like a cross between a stretched Vauxhall Adam and Alfa Romeo MiTo from the front with a futuristic, rounded rear,, the Funky Cat First Edition is fitted with a 48kWh battery offering a range of 193 miles.

To offer peace of mind, the vehicle will be backed by a comprehensive five-year vehicle, unlimited mileage warranty with cover on the battery for eight years or 100,000 miles.

Using a 6.6kW home charger, it will take around 5–6 hours to go from 15-80%. This time is cut drastically when moving up to 11kW on-street charging, which takes 3–4 hours. Additionally, 80kW rapid charging will take around 40 minutes.

The vehicle will come equipped with a high standard specification, including Adaptive Cruise Control, 360 Degree Cameras, Reversing Camera, LED Headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Customers will also benefit from integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as wireless phone charging and electric front seats.
