Melanie’s got a new motor

TV star and model Melanie Sykes has taken delivery of a sporty Abarth 500C.

The new presenter of BT Sport’s MotoGP TV, who’s previously owned a Fiat 500C, wanted another, but with the added performance the 140bhp Abarth can offer.

“Having owned the Fiat 500C before, I knew I wanted to go back into a convertible, but I also had my eye on an Abarth,” explained Melanie. “So when Abarth told me there was 500C version, I was really excited. And just look at it – it’s fabulous.”

The 43-year-old tweeted a snap of her new car, writing: “Cheeky little Abarth 500c #beepbeep it be mine X”.

She then added: “Did I tell ya I’d got a new car! Lolzy dead giddy. Xxxxx #wheels”.

A 1.4-litre turbo-charged engine gives the Abarth 500C a top speed of 128mph and a 0-62mph time of just 8.1 seconds. It costs £16,055 (manual) and £17,355 (Competizione gearbox). No word on Mel’s discount…
