The UK’s best value car brand has launched its new Dacia Buy Online platform with a stunt in the middle of nowhere.
To mark the fact you can now buy a car literally anywhere, Dacia created a ‘pop up dealership’ inside a bus stop on the A64 between Pickering and Whitby in North Yorkshire.
It was open on Wednesday morning (November 7) for any potential car buyers with a connected device today from 9am.
Dacia also commissioned research into the nation’s car buying habits and found that more people are open to buying a car online than they would have been 10 years ago.
- Half of Brits (48%) would buy a car online if it meant they could get good value for their money
- Nearly half (47%) would consider buying a car online for convenience
- Just 15% of people would have considered buying a car online 10 years ago
- The average car shopper spends 21 hours researching a new car purchase and visits an average of three dealerships
When it comes to the variety of locations people find themselves shopping online, 64% of Brits do so while watching the TV, 33% while at work and a quarter would buy while on public transport. A sixth (16%) would even make purchases while enjoying a scenic walk in nature.
Those aged between 30 and 44 are most likely to buy a new car online as a third (30%) admit they would click and ship a car to their doorstep without even test driving. In addition, three quarters (75%) of savvy silver surfers would buy a new car online for the convenience.
Car-cautious 18-29 year olds spend the most time (26 hours) researching, visiting dealerships and test-driving to find their new car – almost double that of those aged 60+ (15 hours).
The study also looked at what people value most when searching for a new car. Top of the list for the majority of Brits is reliability (60%) followed by value (58%).
Top 10 factors when buying a car:
