Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport drivers Lewis Hamilton and teammate Valtteri Bottas were in Turin today to celebrate the unveiling of Petronas’ new £43 million Global Research & Technology Centre.
The state-of-the-art facility will drive Petronas’ cutting edge technology and will lead the global
development of fluids and lubricants the world over including those developed for the Mercedes team.
“It’s been years in the making so it’s great to get a feel for how this amazing facility is coming to life,” said four-time F1 world champion Lewis.
“Petronas is a central pillar of our team and every success that we earn has been achieved together.
“It is very important to place the achievements that we make on the track into the bigger picture, and this new facility represents the depth of technology which is the lifeblood that powers our cars.”
Lewis and Valtteri arrived in a Mercedes-AMG road car before the reigned champ decided to bring added theatre, performing burnouts in front of the new facility.
Valtteri added: “Petronas’ new Global Research and Technology Centre is about developing new technology solutions that will take us further, and do so with even greater awareness of our responsibility to use energy in efficient ways.”
