Introducing the all-new Aston Martin DBX

Aston Martin has officially unveiled the first SUV in its 106-year history – the DBX.

Blending sports car dynamics with off-road versatility, it will be built at the company’s purpose-built new manufacturing facility in St Athan, Wales.

“Through its development alone, this beautiful SUV has already taken the company into new territories and in inspiring directions.”

Priced from £158,000 (including three years’ servicing for that extra peace of mind), first deliveries are scheduled to begin from April 2020.

Utilising bonded aluminium, a construction method already used in Aston Martin’s sports cars, the DBX is light for a big SUV (2,245kg), yet incredibly stiff, enabling it to achieve “exceptional dynamics both on and off-road”.

Boasting “triple volume air suspension”, it also features the latest 48v electric anti-roll control system (eARC) and electronic adaptive dampers, and its ride height can be raised by 45mm or lowered by 50mm.

Powered by a new version of the mighty 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in the DB11 and Vantage, it develops an impressive 542bhp and it can sprint from 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 181mph.

Transmitting this power and torque to the ground is a nine-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, allied to an all-wheel drive system.
With 632 litres of boot space and 40:20:40 split folding rear seats, the DBX is also practical on an everyday level.

The seats are trimmed in sumptuous, full grain leather, sourced from long term partner Bridge of Weir, while metal, glass and wood are used throughout the cabin. There’s also “class-leading headroom and legroom” and both the headlining and electric roof blind are available in a luxurious Alcantara finish.

Other interior highlights include a 10.25-inch centre console infotainment screen, plus a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Apple CarPlay comes as standard, as does a 360-degree camera system and ambient lighting that offers 64 different colours in two zones.
